Which add-in do I have?#
FileCap has two Outlook add-ins: the classic Outlook Add-in and the Office 365 Add-in. They are installed differently, they log to different places, and the fixes for one do not apply to the other. Start here, so you deploy the right one and the rest of the troubleshooting matches what is actually installed.
Knowing you use “Outlook Classic” is not enough: classic Outlook for Windows can host either add-in.
Which should I deploy?#

- The classic Outlook Add-in is a Windows program (VSTO) that you install on each workstation with an EXE or MSI. It only works in classic Outlook for Windows. See the system requirements of the classic Outlook Add-in.
- The Office 365 Add-in runs in every Outlook client listed above, including classic Outlook for Windows. Choose it when users work in Outlook on the web, the new Outlook for Windows or Outlook for Mac, or a mix of clients. See the system requirements of the Office 365 Add-in.
Deploy one add-in per user, not both.
Which one does this user have?#
Open a new mail and find the FileCap button on the Message ribbon.

The user works in Outlook on the web or the new Outlook for Windows? Then it is always the Office 365 Add-in.
When you read a received mail, the Office 365 Add-in shows a FileCap Invite button. That is normal and does not mean a second add-in is installed.

If the problem involves Event Viewer, it is the classic add-in by definition.
